2. Easy-to-follow instructions to update your PCM firmware, and activate the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in your PCM 4.0 / PCM 4.1 unit. Most people complete the activation process within 10-15 mins.
3. Tech support if you need any help during the activation process, we usually respond within the hour during normal business time. But trust us, the instructions are so clear that you most likely won’t need this.
What cars are eligible:
Any Porsche with PCM 4.0 or PCM 4.1 infotainment system. If you don’t know your PCM version, send us your unit’s firmware version, and we can confirm it for you. You can find your unit’s version information by following the instructions in the Before Ordering section below.

On the touch screen, click on the ‘Set’ button (with the gear icon)
Click on ‘Version Information’ Note down the ‘Software Version’ and send it to us; it should start with ‘MHI2_US|ER…’ or ‘MHI2q…’
Porsche PCM 4.1 Firmware version
During Checkout:
Please upload your head unit’s version information so we can verify that:
your unit’s firmware can be updated, and CarPlay + Android Auto can be OEM activated
we also need the version information in order to build your customized SD card
There will be a file upload section on the checkout page, you could also manually enter your version number in the notes section. New orders will be on-hold with a pending authorization on your card. We will only process your order and payment if we are able to activate your unit; Otherwise, your order will be canceled and your card will not be charged.

The Sirius XM channel icons are lost during the upgrade and you’ll get the generic SXM icon for each channel. Not to worry, those will automatically re-download from the satellite stream. It just takes time, since those only transmit periodically and not on demand.

Very pleased with the overall convenience and quality of the upgrade service, albeit at a modest price. But with that price comes value and here, in my case, the upgrade is as plug and play as you can get. And as has been cited online even a firmware update would be hundreds more at a dealership, to say nothing of the cost of your time going there.
I’d say it was all complete in 10 mins or less, start to finish. Like another review mentioned it seemed to pause longest on the last “Final Script” step without showing progress. However it soon finished and restarted. After I removed the SD card, confirmed new firmware version and setup Android Auto without issue!
Again, the communication and service from purchase to delivery (and I’d assume this extends to their support during business hours), made me most confident in the whole operation. Thanks for the upgrade and offering a method to accomplish this — frankly this is a service I’d expect Porsche to offer or for it to have been OTA… At the end of the day I’m glad to have done it for ultimately what is less time and money.
